Snow in May?!!

So, it's May 2nd and it's snowy with about two inches settled on the truck this morning! Last Friday Heather and I were outside all day in temperatures up to about 25C and got slightly sunburned, and today it's snowing again! This Canadian weather is crazy!! :-)
I figured there are already enough photos of the truck with snow on it, so here isn't a picture of the truck with snow on it...

Watoto
After our trip to Edmonton we came back to Lloyd on the Saturday night, but a little to late for the Watoto concert. Happily they took both morning services on the Sunday and so we were treated to a double dose of them as we stayed in both meetings. It was truly delightful to see these kids who had been orphaned in Uganda singing of their love for Jesus with such joy in their eyes and smiles on their faces and dancing with contagious enthusiasm. Jesus has certainly rescued them from a desolate life.

Baptisms
This Sunday we had 7 baptisms during the second morning service. We had known that there were going to be baptisms but didn't know who was going to be baptised. It was awesome to see a bunch of people we knew who had decided to make this decision and publicy declare their faith in Christ and determination to faithfully follow him. Three people in the same family were baptised which was such a joy to see!

Another holiday
We are really looking forward to a holiday with Heather's parents who arrive on Thursday. After a few days in Lloyd, we shall set off for the mountains after I have preached on Sunday morning. It will be great to see Heather's Mum and Dad again, after nearly a year. We are looking forward to catching up with them and enjoying some good time with them.

  • Hey Steve! Since I have lots of time to burn during the next few weeks, I will probably be the one to comment on here first each time as I will be checking very regulaly!
The Watoto choir were very good indeed when they were over here in Morpeth...but I sort of got the feeling (I'm not sure I'm not right) that the children perhaps had been given very clear instructions as what to say and had rehearsed all the happy faces and greeting people a little to...well perfectly. It's hard to explain but it's just an impression I got. I really hope that they are all happy and indeed that God is very much in each of their lives! Probably just me being cynical! Have a good time with Heather's parents! See you soon. Beth x
    p.s. Snow..in May?! odd.

  • Hey Beth, it did cross my mind too about the kids, but it was the reports from the families who had the children stay with them that convinced me it was genuine. Indeed they are taught how to be polite and welcoming, and their speeches were certainly rehearsed as they were identical for both services, but the way a bunch of the boys clamoured to say "Hi" to me just while I was helping to clear things away, the easy way in which they ate lunch together, and again the reports I had from people who hosted the children overnight made me believe this really is genuine. As I said though, I did have the same thoughts as you at first.
Looking forward to seeing you soon!

  • Heh, snow in may does seem a little odd...blooming Global warming/cooling lol
We've been expereincing a mini heatwave of sorts with temps reaching 22 degrees C, it was dry enough for the ground at school to crack lol.
Atleast it means we can revise outside on the grass - or atleast attempt to revise lol.
Looking forward to seeing you soon.
God bless you and inspire you always!
    Yours in randomness!

  • Hey Steve,
Yes, believe it! I'm actually writing you a comment! I actually have a few spare minutes to write you a message. I think you already told me about everything you already blogged about so I'll just tell you what I've been up to. We went into Lancaster today for pizza at pizza hut and then layed around on the grass all day! It's been lovely weather here this week.
Ummmm there's a bonfire here tonight so I might go to that and have some s'mores.

Yeah...sorry I should run I've got people surrounding me. Hope your having a great time with Heather's parents! Hopefully I'll get to catch up soon.
