Happy Easter!!

Easter is not about bunnies or eggs or chicks or anything of the like. It is about the pivotal moment in history as Jesus Christ, the Son of God, paid the penalty for our sin by his death upon the cross, as he was buried in a tomb and as he was raised to life again on the third day because death had no legal claim over him. Because of his death and resurrection, those who will believe in him and submit their lives to his lordship can know forgiveness of sins, release from shame, purpose in life, the promise of eternal life with God and the power to live before God in the way that pleases him. Jesus said, "I have come that they might have life and life to the full" (John 10:10) This is what Easter is about!!

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His, and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

(S Townend)

Jesus Christ is ALIVE. If you have never submitted your life to Jesus Christ you can do so today and know life and life to the full. If you want to do this, you can pray this simple prayer and make the biggest change in your life you will ever make.

"Dear Jesus, I admit that I have done things that offend God, that I have lived in a way that displeases you. I have not loved God with my whole heart and have not always lived to please him. Please forgive me for living like this and come and let my heart be your throne. I want to live my life for you, to serve you, to know you and I thank you that as I do this, you will give me life and life to the full. I turn my back on the way I have lived and instead set my will to live for you. Thank you that you promise me eternal life and that when I die I shall go to heaven and live with you forever. Amen."

If you seriously pray this prayer, please let me know I would love to help you as you start off on the most amazing adventure of your whole life.

God bless you,

Steve Wakka Wakka

  • Hey Steve...that poem was really nice. Happy easter to you too, although maybe a bit late. Does everyone over there overindulge upon chocolate eggs at this time of year? (Why does the Easter bunny bring EGGS? I only just realised this yesterday.)
Say a HUGE hi to the newly weds from me.
    See you soon! B x

  • Hey Beth,
Glad you liked the 'poem', it's actually the third verse of the modern hymn "In Christ alone" that we have often sung at New Life! :-)

Thanks for the belated Easter wishes, I did write the blog on Easter Sunday over here, but it was already Monday for you guys. As for eating Easter eggs, I believe they do, but maybe not as much as in the UK. And how does the Easter Bunny lay chocolate eggs?? If only I could catch a Cadbury's Easter Bunny my chocolate problems would all be solved... (Dreams...)

Will say "Hi" to Shawna and Murray when we see them - we're on holiday house-sitting in Edmonton this week and they're on honeymoon. The wedding was wonderful though.

As for Josh, well I had heard that some people were trying to introduce the new idea of the Easter Hedgehog, so maybe he's helped keep that one out of the country. Sad for the poor little hedgie-pig though. :-(

Have a great Easter break and we're looking forward to seeing you in around 11 weeks! Yay!!

    God bless ya,
    Steve X

  • Happy Easter!

Just to let you know I'm out of the comment race as my internet time here at Capernwray is limited to 20 minutes on Tuesdays and Thursdays!

There are numbers here I can email to you if you and H want to phone at some point but we would just need to arrange an exact time so I'm by the right phone to answer it. Or I could just phone you sometime but I don't know Val and Jim's number.

Anyway I'm safe and alive and loving life!
