A better way

I was reading Jenny's copy of "Hinds' feet on high places," a book I had often heard of but never read. Jenny had mentioned it in her blogs once or twice so I thought, maybe I'll have a read of it. I did enjoy it and one part toward the end really impacted me.

Things are not always easy and sometimes they are downright tough. Sometimes in life you find yourself battling with really horrible situations with people being horribly unpleasant. It is so easy to wish the situation and the people to disappear, but this little excerpt reminds us of the better way.

"Therefore I begin to think, my Lord, you purposely allow us to be brought into contact with the bad and evil things that you want changed. Perhaps that is the very reason why we are here in the world, where sin and sorrow and suffering and evil abound, so that we may let you teach us so to react to them, that out of them we can create lovely qualities to live forever. That is the only really satisfactory way of dealing with evil, not simply binding it so that it cannot work harm, but whenever possible overcoming it with good."

That so impressed me, that it is so much better to see difficult situations and people turned around rather than just disappear. It takes more work, but is so much more rewarding. Of course, we can only truly do this as we allow the love, grace and strength of Christ work in and through us, but how wonderful that this is His best for us!

Let's not run from our problems, but let Jesus walk us through them and see them transformed as we do. Not just that, we'll be transformed as well!!

God bless you,
