Eat-athon
Well, it's 3 days until we leave Lloyd and people have been inviting us out for food left, right and centre! It's so nice to know that we're really appreciated and that people want to get time in with us before we leave.
On Wednesday we had a barbecue with our Bible study group which was good fun. The kids were there too and so they provided much of our entertainment. As well as the usual BBQ fare (I had a steak that Kim and Barry kindly provided for us), we made 'smores' which are marshmallows roasted over an open fire then sandwiched with chunks of chocolate between two Graham crackers (similar to digestive biscuits but square and harder.) Very yummy indeed!
On Thursday we had lunch with the church staff at Spiro's where I had a steak and then Heather and I shared a greek dessert called baklava - extremely good indeed! In the evening we were at Murray and Shawna's where we had kebabs and a delicious cake that Shawna made (out of a packet - she later confessed.)
Today we were at KC's Steakhouse with Greg and Dee who lent us the truck we have been driving for the last eight months. For a change, I had a steak! Yum.
People keep wondering if I'm getting steaked out, but I think it would take quite a bit longer for that to happen! Heather's had enough of it for the moment though.
Tonight we're back at Spiro's for supper with Merv and Shelley. I wonder what I might have, maybe I should try steak...
If we get to dessert again, I think I'll have to have that baklava again, it was SOOO good!
On Sunday at 5:00pm we'll be out again, this time at Kelsey's with Tracy and Coreen. After the service I expect we shall conclude our eat-athon with the young adults at Boston Pizza and then go pop!
So that's what we've been doing, apart from winding down, tying up loose ends, saying goodbye to people and preparing ourselves for returning to England. I shall be taking up my job part-time again as well as continuing to instruct IBOLT students and Heather will be doing work for IBOLT.
Do we want to return to Lloyd - Definitely!
When will we return - Well that's in God's hands. Keep reading my blog!!
On another note: Any ideas for a new name for my blog when we return to England? 'An Englishman in England' doesn't really cut it!
God bless you, and if you're in Morpeth, we'll see you soon - YAY!

I don't think there is such a thing as too much steak! In fact, I think it's almost blasphemous and against my religion to even consider such a notion! Perish the thought! One thing I can't wait for when I get home this summer is my Dad's BBQ'd steak! Oh so good (insert Homer type drooling here.) I'm not sure if this is normal talk for a female but I was raised with three brothers after all so that may account for part of it.
The other food you mentioned that got my mouth watering was s'mores! Do you think you guys could bring me back some Canadian marshmallows?? I'm afraid I'm going to have to be snobby and say that English ones just don't cut it.
Ok I think that's my two cents for the day. As for renaming your blog when you get back to England...how about "A Little More Than Kefka Talk" If you haven't been introduced to the idea of Kefka talk I strongly suggest you ask a Mrs. Tanys Mosher who will be happy to explain I'm sure. It will all make sense then!

lol -well readding your faboulous food journal i thought i should comment especially after Jenny's comment!
I'm so glad that you and Heather are being blessed in your final Canadian days for the moment! We had a fabulous time in Ottawa and i'm sure you will both as well! You most likely will even get some of Sir Gord's Famous BBQ'd steak - which is indeed as mouth watering as Jenny previously explained!
If you wouldn't mind please give Jenny a huge hug for us here and I will fill you in on the origins of Kefka....
Sometime in the 20th Century a young man named David found that frequently after 24:00 became a time where all rhyme and reason and sense dissapeared from many conversations incurring all sorts of rambling bambling silly phrases. Thus young David deemed the time after 24:00 to be "Kefka" time - where any incomprehensible bambling rambling silliness became "Kefka Talk".
Later on in the 21st Century two misses not yet related, were so deep into silliness that Kefka no longer exsisted, they had far surpassed what Kefta stood for. And thus deemed this point "Kafka".
The moral of the story: If you are with a Mosher and it's past midnight - there is bound to be Kefka around and if you are lucky mabye even some Kafka!
God Bless you guys! Hope to see you sometime this year - I am working on a plan to come for a visit : )
